The Holiday Season is upon us! We are wrapping up our 2008 classes soon, but there’s no better time than the present to think about what you are going to do next year with you dog! Below is the Winter 2009 Class Schedule.

Semi-Private Custom Classes
Can’t seem to find the right class for you? Current schedule doesn’t allow you to attend the class you want? Class is across town and you want something closer? Recruit your friends or neighbors and contact us about scheduling your very own class!

What: choose from our current list of classes, or contact us about designing a class to meet your needs.
Location: your home or a nearby appropriate location
When: fit to your schedule
Cost: will depend upon the details of the class

Pre-requisite: we must have at least 3 dogs committed to the class. No refunds can be given once class has started.

PUPPY CLASSES

SUNDAYS

Puppy Recess (socialization sessions)
Every Sunday except April 12 (Easter); 12:00 – 1:00 pm.
Location: Deer Creek Animal Hospital, Southwest Littleton near C-470/Kippling.
Cost: $5. No registration is required.
Puppy Recess is for puppies 8 weeks to 5 months of age or small breed dogs over 5 months who play well with puppies. Your puppy must be current on all age-appropriate vaccinations, including Bordetella (kennel cough).

Puppy Preschool - JOIN AT ANY TIME. No need to wait for a new series to start.

Taking it to the Streets: Polite Pooches in Public
Spring Series: Sundays, March 22 – May 10 (Skip April 12), 10:15-11:15 am
Location: Initial class will be held at Deer Creek Animal Hospital, Southwest Littleton near C-470/Kippling. Most remaining classes will be held at various locations in Littleton.
Cost: $120 for 7 sessions. Pre-registration is required.
This class is for dogs 6 months and older who have completed at least Basic Training or the equivalent. Basic Training 2 is also recommended. Your dog must be current on all vaccinations, including Bordetella (kennel cough).

Fall is my favorite season! Before the holiday season is a great time to brush up on your dog�s manners. Consider joining us for a class before the holiday season makes your life even more hectic than it already is! Below is your updated Fall Class Schedule.

Please note that our Basic Training Classes at Deer Creek Animal Hospital are already full. If you are interested in this class, please contact us. If there is enough interest, we will schedule an additional class.

Social Walks are for anyone with dog-friendly dogs who would like to join others and their dogs for a walk. This is a great way for dogs to socialize with other dogs and people, especially for those who might not like to play with other dogs.

Body Language Seminar
For anyone who wants to learn to better read their own dogs and the other dogs your dog meets when out in public. Learn to read early signs of stress and arousal. Learn to better understand your dog so you can communicate more clearly in your daily interactions. Learn to read your dog�s body language to properly interpret what your dog is saying. If you are currently training your dog, this seminar will help you to train more effectively.

Aggression Management Seminar
In this seminar, we will be discussing kind, honest ways to help your dog who has a challenging time when near other dogs. In addition, we will discuss other types of aggression, how to read signs leading up to aggressive behaviors, and possible causes of aggressive behaviors.

Spring is here! If you or your dog have spring fever, this is a great time to sign up for your next training class! In addition to our standard classes, we have two new exciting additions on Thursday evenings:

Puppy: Mind Your Manners! is a class for puppies or adolescent dogs between 5 and 8 months of age. Many people join Basic Training after Puppy Preschool, but we are now offering a special class to follow up Puppy Preschool or for those who are starting their training a bit late for Puppy Preschool. The adolescent stage can be a difficult one which is why most dogs you see in shelters are adolescent dogs. This class is specifically to help you get through the initial stages with your “teenager”!

Tricks for Treats
Sundays, February 3 & 10, 10:45-11:45 am

We will learn basic skills for shaping behaviors and targeting and how these methods can be used to teach a variety of tricks or other fun skills beyond the basic sits and downs. We will work on a variety of tricks, such as roll over, shake, spin, crawl, fetch and others. This class is for dogs who have completed puppy pre-school, basic training or the equivalent and are current on all age-appropriate vaccinations, including Bordatella (kennel cough). Looking for fun ways to exercise and entertain your puppy during the cold winter months? This class is intended to provide both physical and mental exercise for your puppy and give you some ideas of fun ways to interact with your puppy. This is not intended to be an introduction to competitive agility, but rather a fun way to introduce your puppy to obstacles and see if you might want to consider agility when your puppy matures. It is also a great way to expose your puppy to: training, novel items, exercises that help your puppy become more aware if his/her legs and body parts, problem solving and mental exercises, and a fun way to further bond with your puppy. BODY LANGUAGE SEMINAR

For anyone who wants to learn to better read their own dogs and the other dogs your dog meets when out in public. Learn to read early signs of stress and arousal. Learn to better understand your dog so you can communicate more clearly in your daily interactions. Learn to read your dog’s body language to properly interpret what your dog is saying. If you are currently training your dog, this seminar will help you to train more effectively.

BASIC MANNERS AND SELF CONTROL WORKSHOP

Which good manners are most important? Do manners differ in public from the manners we have at home? We will look at behaviors such as greeting strangers, jumping, and barking. We will define and discuss both good and bad manners. Discover how to establish basic self control in your dog.

Happy Holidays! We’ve been busy setting our 2008 training schedule and have a wide selection of classes at many convenient dates and times.

This email contains our group class schedule for the first part of 2008 at locations in Southwest Littleton and Southeast Denver. We have our usual mix of Puppy Pre-School, Basic Training, Basic Training 2 and Socialization sessions. New classes include a Kids and Canines Clicker Class and a Puppy Agility for Fun Class.

Kids and Canines Clicker Class
Sundays, January 20 – Fe bruary 10, 3:45-4:45 pm

Cost: $80, includes 4 sessions and a clicker with wrist coil; additional clickers/wrist coils are available for $2 each. Pre-registration required.
Description: This class is for kids who want to have some fun with the family dog. This is also for parents who want their kids and dogs to develop appropriate relationships, so that the dog listens to the kid and so that kids can learn the safest, most effective way to interact with the family dog.
