Colorado-Based Pet Retailers
The following include local pet retailers who carry high quality foods, treats and other products that I recommend. I have found them to be knowledgeable and very helpful. Some of the products listed on both the Recommended Products and Suggested Reading pages are sold by these pet retailers.
- Aspen Grove Lifestyle Center, 1 mile off of C-470 on Santa Fe and Mineral. This outdoor mall is dog friendly and provides a list of dog friendly stores on its website.
- Chewy’s Bonetique. Located in the Lowry Town Center at 200 Quebec Street, Building 600, Suite 119, Denver, CO 80230 (map it). Visit their website for more information.

- Lewis & Bark. Located at 5623 S Prince Street, Littleton, CO 80120 (map it).

- Three Dog Bakery. Located at 8000 E. Belleview Ave. in Greenwood Village, CO (map it), but there are other stores in Colorado so you might want to check their website for locations that might be closer to you.
Colorado-Based Resources
- Indoor pool for dogs. For those dogs who love to swim, there is an indoor pool dedicated for dogs at Canine Rehabilitation and Conditioning Group. Check their website for hours and cost.
- Off-leash Dog Parks in Colorado.
- Colorado Disc Dogs offers free playdays that are open to anyone.
- Dog Events Online maintains a directory of many dog-related events, which according to the website, include AKC Agility trials, some NADAC and USDAA Agility, some AKC Obedience and Specialties, and some NAFA Flyball.
- For dogs exhibiting serious aggression toward humans who have bitten and injured people, you may need a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist or Veterinary Behaviorist who can help you. Try Colorado-based Animal Behavior Associates.
Organizations
- American Kennel Club (AKC) - Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test. Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test. Visit this page if you would like to find out more about the CGC test.
- Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). As a member of the APDT, I support their efforts as a professional organization of individual trainers who are committed to becoming better trainers through education. In addition, their mission is to promote professional trainers to the veterinary profession and to increase public awareness of dog friendly training techniques. - International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). As an affiliate member, I support their mission "to assist and educate owners and handlers of companion animals to prevent problems and to interrupt the cycle of inappropriate punishment, rejection, and euthanasia of animals with behavior problems that are resolvable." - For dogs exhibiting serious aggression toward humans who have bitten and injured people, you may need a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist or Veterinary Behaviorist who can help you. - Colorado Greyhound Adoption (CGA). I have worked with CGA in many areas, including volunteering as a foster parent for recently retired greyhounds, advising on training and behavior issues for foster and newly adopted dogs, and presenting seminars for foster families and adopters. We adopted our greyhound, Jahzara, through CGA. Please visit their website to find out more about adopting a retired racer or volunteering for CGA.
