Private, In-Home Training
Love My Dog Training provides training in the comfort of your own home. . Do you have a busy schedule that makes attending a group class difficult? Is your dog easily distracted by other dogs and new places? Private training might be perfect for you! Training time with a trainer is really for the people, not the dog. During these sessions, I will teach you how to most effectively train your dog. I could train your dog for you, but that would only ensure a dog who responds and has bonded to me!
Prices include actual training time, preparation time, travel costs, handouts, and any necessary follow-up. There are no additional costs or hidden fees. Training through email and online video is also available at a reduced cost. Please click here for more information about this option.
Puppy Pre-School for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months of age (4 session package, $230):
- Learn impulse control (self-control) exercises and basic manners.
- Learn basic cues, including: name recognition, sit, down, come, wait, and leave it.
- Learn how to effectively handle housetraining, nipping, and chewing.
- Learn how to prevent and problem-solve future issues that might arise.
- Clickers, if you decide to use them, are extra. ($1 each or $2 with wrist coil)
Basic Training for dogs 6 months and older (4 session package, $230):
- Learn cues, including: sit, down, come, stay, watch me, leave it, and walking nicely on leash.
- Learn basic manners, such as not jumping on people, and not darting out doorways.
- Learn how to prevent and problem-solve future issues that might arise.
- Learn the best way to be a good leader for your dog.
- Learn how to have your dog reliably respond to you.
- Clickers, if you decide to use them, are extra. ($1 each or $2 with wrist coil)
Basic Training, Part 2, for dogs 6 months and older (4 session package, $230):
- For those who have been through Basic Training or it’s equivalent.
- Learn to obtain compliance under increasing distractions, particularly with stay and come.
- Learn heel and continue work on walking nicely on leash, if needed.
Basic Manners for dogs of any age (4 session package, $230):
- For those with out-of-control dogs.
- Learn to eliminate jumping, mouthing, barking, door darting, running away, digging and other pushy, destructive or annoying behaviors.
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Test Preparation for dogs 6 months and older (6 session package, $345):
- If your dog already knows the basics, the CGC test is a good next step. (Please visit the AKC website to find out more about the Canine Good Citizen test.) I can help you prepare for passing this test. Even if you decide not to take the test, you will have a well-mannered dog you can take out in public and not be embarrassed by his obnoxious behaviors.
Single Training Sessions or Specialized Lesson Plans for dogs of any age:
- If you have certain cues or issues you would like to work on that do not seem to fit in any of the categories above, we will design a specialized lesson plan to meet your specific needs.
- Sessions generally last approximately 60 minutes. The number of sessions you need depends on what you wish to accomplish. The cost is $70 for the initial session, $60 for each additional session, or a discounted rate of $230 if you prepay for 4 sessions.
Email/Phone/Online Video Training
While we believe in-person training is the most effective option, this is not always an option for a variety of reasons. Through the use of email, phone, and/or online video, we may be able to help you accomplish your training goals. For any real-time video conferencing to take place, you should have a broadband Internet connection. We utilize the following Internet communication networks:
- Instant messaging (IM) applications such as Yahoo! Instant Messenger and MSN Messenger, both of which are free applications to download, install and use.
- Skype, a voice-over-Internet-protocol, or VOIP application that is free to download and use.
If you have any of these applications installed, we can stream video directly to you in real-time as we demonstrate our training techniques. If you have a webcam or can purchase one (prices range from $15 and up), you can stream video back to us as we watch you work with your dog. If you need help setting up these IM or VOIP applications, please let us know.
We have also assembled a library of instructional video clips. We can provide you with username and password access to clips we select most appropriate for your training so that you can access them on your own as needed in between training sessions.
